3M makes an adhesive remover. Im redoing my weatherstripping as well and i used this product, works well. Get all of the actual rubber off then just spray it on and wait. On my 70, all the peices are screwed on the tops, although the screws for the t-top adjustments were under alot of sealant.
The front piece of trim is 'crimped' to hold it in place. The side piece and the little connector are pop riveted in place as Batman said.
Many painters recommend leaving the front piece on since it's VERY easy to damage the paint putting it back on.
Regards,
Alan
It needs to go to the painter next Friday (from resell red to sunflower yellow). I have the tops bare all but the trimming. But think the result will be better is it is also removed.
Any details on that M3 product, want to see if we have it here in Europe.
