Default Differential Carrier

I have a 75 with 4:11 gears want to switch to 3:55, I assume their is a 4 series carrier in the differential, It was in it when i bought it. Would all the parts fit on a 3 series (i.e clutch, internal parts)or do i have to replace everything?

you could have a 411 set made for a 3 series case. Otherwise you need a 3 series case. The internals are the same. I would polish and tune it if you go this far.

Gary (GTR1999) wrote a paper on it years ago, and is willing to answer any questions you have for him. I just rebuilt my diff with his help, and I am writing a huge rebuild paper on it. Actually, I'm working on it write now as I speak. I'll be posting it when it is completed
