What year Vette do you have? Your profile is not filled out so I have no clue if you have a mecanical oil pressure gauge or an electric sender and gauge.

I have recently been thru problems with my 77 oil gauge. I found out when the gauge goes to full scale high either the wire came off of the sending unit or it is inop. If you disconnect the wire and ground it out it should go to zero. The sending unit works on resistance

Since it's an electric, . Check the sender wire at the sender which is back by the oil filter.
The wire to the gauge will have no voltage. Like others have said it is a blue wire If you have your center cluster out you can disconnect the battery and shoot resistance to the printed circuit board to the sender and With the battery connected you can check voltage up to the other side of the indicator. If your indicator needle is pegging outyou are not reading resistance off of the sender. You also have a resistor that goes between the gauge terminals and you can remove it to check for resistance. They are different colors for each gauge. Try first to disconnect the sender terminal and ground it to the block or frame and turn the ignition on and it should read zero. Ungrounded it will go to full scale high. My gauge was inop and I learned a lot about these things. On my 77 you cant buy a new gauge it was a one year run. I bought a good used gauge in great shape from a corvette place in pennsylvania called Contemporary corvette. They are good people selling great product and they guarantee their parts.
