Check the throttle linkage..... [like many have suggested -- a 5 minute task]

Not sure what all that means, sorry for my ignorance.

Seems like I'm in a quandry. I like the mostly stock look (yes, the sidepipes are stock too, the expensive ones) but didn't realize the huge power loss by keeping it this way.

I didn't buy it to race but do enjoy the torque it has. What's a man to do? LOL
With those pistons and chamber size, you are in the 9.3 - 9.4:1 range (if you have standard deck height). If you can read your stamping pad on the engine, you have very likely standard deck height..
This means that your compression was dropped which definetley cost you HP!!
Stock exhausts on those Vettes were very restrictive, especially if using the exhaust manifolds.. Going to headers alone would make a very noticeable difference!

Tell everyone it is a 427. If they say how much hp you getting? Look them in the eye and say "plenty" with a sly grin.

That way you didn't lie and your ego feels good too!
