Default Wiper motor advice

Guys
I need to replace the wiper motor on my 73, finding one in Australia for a 73 Corvette is not that easy. I understand that for the 73 I might be able to use one of another model Chev, if so that would widen the field. Any one have an idea if this can work.
Thanks in advance guys, any help will be appreciated as usual.

Tony

Thanks 400hp427vette, I have looked at Ecklers and Wilcox and sure they have replacements, but then there is the shipping time and the additional cost. There are lots of Chevs here just not so many Vettes, If I can source an alternative here it could work out quicker and cheaper. If not, well I will just have to dig deeper and wait.
Thanks again.

Hi,
I just searched the Rock Auto parts web site. The 73 Vette shows Delco part# 12368606, this is a common wiper motor. A quick search showed the same motor in Camaro and Caprice models.
I don't know which GM models were sold in Australia, but it seems like you might have a good chance of getting a wiper motor off a different GM car line. I don't have one, but I know there are books that cross reference common parts in GM cars.
Good luck,
Tom

can't you simply take the old motor to a supply shop and compare them?

I figured everyone knew this trick. Look it up at partsamerica.com there are 2 variations for the 73 looks like an early type or late type depending on wiring? Once you select a specific one there is a link you can click that says see all vehicles this part fits. You get a whole page of different vehicles and year ranges that use this same part. Very handy tool and you can buy online also but probably not out of the country. At the very least though you can get a cross reference. Hope this helps.

Have you contacted Corvettes of Melbourne (Club) or there is also another Chevrolet Club there too.
I bought a spare for my car and it was only a couple of hundred bucks including shipping from the US.
If you really get stuck I may be able to help.
Regards,
Chris

No problem! I just hope others read this and can use it because it can be really handy especially if you have a u-pull it or u-wrench type self serve salvage yard in your area. Then you have a list of what to look for if your out scavenging for misc. parts for some other non corvette projects. I also buy new parts from them too as long as they have it in stock and the price is right...

Thanks Guys

All good info, jeffro1234 that’s a handy hint I will put that in my favourites for future reference. And thanks for doing the research Tom. Chris, I am a member of the other Vette club in Melb, but I sit at my computer all day so this is usually a first port of call thru the day, thank you for your offer much appreciated.
Now to go off and find one.
