Default Valve Cover Baffles

I'm looking to buy some new valve covers and some have baffles and some don't. What are the baffles for? Do I need them?

The baffle is a tin plate under the holes for PCV and oil fill. YOU NEED 'EM! Keeps oil from the rocker splash from coming out them holes.

It's hard enough to get the ones WITH baffles not to leak out the grommets.

If you have stock rocker arms or roller tip style you should be able to use the baffles. They prevent oil mist and oil splash from getting out of the engine. This is a good thing.

If you have aluminum full roller rockers you might have clearance issues with the stock style baffles. I am sure someone with that problem will back me up here or say otherwise.

I used a double-thickness gasket & my Crane Roller Rockers work fine.
