Okay guys................ need some help on my dual quad set-up for the '76 I'm working on !
I've got a couple of (1406) 600 cfm edelbrock carbs that I need to de-jet and reduce to 500 cfm. I need to at least find a starting point for the jets and needles.
I've got the low rise dual quad edelbrock intake manifold atop a 350.
350 bored .030 over
aluminum (small runner) racing heads
Crane energizer 278 cam
200-4R overdrive
Any input will be greatly appreciated........... Thanx guys. Rick
Yeah........... I do know that I can't change the size of the cfm.s
I'm just trying to reduce the size of the jets and needles to what the 500 cfm carbs are, so I don't overload the engine. I guess I should have been a little clearer ! Thanx, Rick
It doesn't work that way. Carbs are airflow dependent. If they are right on a 454....you can put them on a 283 and be pretty darn close on jetting. The correct jetting will give a good A/F ration for THAT carb regardless of what it's bolted to.
Not to say you can't lean it some if needed..but the jetting for a 500 won't work correctly in the 600 most likely.
Rick,
I did a quick search on the Summit Racing site, looked up an Edelbrock 1404 carb (500cfm) and looked at the "manual.pdf". I think that is what you're looking for.
Post some shots of the CanAm. Been a while since I've seen it.
