Default POINTS to HEI Question ?

If I dump the points and install a HEI in my 74 BB ..... what plugs should I use AND what gap ? .035 ? .060 ?

Use the same application spark plugs. The method of spark generation and delivery may change (electronic vs. mechanical), but the plugs don't care. The same application and heat range as designed for the engine is still correct.

You might try opening the gap to .045" instead of .035" and see if it runs any better. If you feel it miss at higher rpm's then re-gap at the stock .035".

on the .45 gap or start at .40 ,,they do open up with wear and they will probably be in longer with the HEI

just lookup what plugs when in a 75 454 and the gap. you should like HEI alot better.

Your better off gaping the plugs at .035 even if it requires changing the plugs to a earlier years recommended plug so as to be able to use .035 unless your running a low compression smog engine
