Hey, my car sits and i start it everyother day. When i take it out to move it around once in a while the shift to reverse is sharp and loud. almost like a bang. What could this be?
Assuming you have an automatic, this is a fairly common trait of the C3's. However, without actually feeling the sensation, it's difficult to tell. Be sure your idle is set properly. As a side issue, be sure to fully warm your car up as short trips are very hard on an engine. Also, it is not necessary to start it every other day. Once a month or so take it for a half hour drive and get it up to operating temp.
There is a 'snubber' bushing at the differential that keeps the diffy from banging around when you reverse the torque to it. The rubber 'snubber' is probably worn out so that there is too much slop in the system. It's an easy fix.
If the idle is set up too high, merely shifting out of park or neutral will or could cause what apparently your describing. Bad on U-joints. Normal idle is 5-550 or less.
