I have a 1980 with an Oyster interior. I am replacing most of the interior pieces with new ones from Ecklers. The problem I am having is they don't carry the correct Oyster interior trim paint. They only carry the 78-80 which is white with a grey tint (and not correct for the 80). The 1980 Oyster is more cream colored. Also looking at the seat back and bottoms they look more white than cream. I am very confused about what colors I should be using. I searched the forums first and didn't see any posts answering this. Surely someone else has run across this. Anyone have pics of what a 1980 Oyster interior should look like? Any leads on where to get the correct paint?
I'd try the NCRS forum as well. I suspect that you have a pretty rare interior (aside from a short model run), so your definitely on the right track asking other owners. Also, for the seats you might try an experienced (read old) upholstery guy. I have one in this area that has amazing sources and ideas. It sounds like you already have some of the stuff if your seeing different shades, but it sounds like you want it right. Post some pictures if you can, it seems to generate better responses when folks can see the problem.
