Anyone got any advice on how to get this crap off? Its left over from the old insulation. I have tried laquer thinner and it just makes a bigger mess. Its like the surface of an old tennis ball. I need to get it off so I can glue down my new sound and heat insulation!
I don't know if it works best but I used a power drill, an angle grinder, and a die grinder all with wire wheels, to get the most of that glue and hair up off the floor.
I thought I had it in the picture, but you can barely see it at the bottom right of the top picture is a wire brush, three swipes and its clogged up. I tried a wire wheel on my high speed grinder and it choked up in about 20 seconds, just seems to spread it around instead of taking it off. I will try the acetone next.
Bit out of the box, but could you carefully use a hand held torch to singe the bulk to get you down where the wire brush could remove the glue? Hopefully before you try the acetone

That doesn't seem safe...I can imagine the hairs catching fire instead of singeing. Anyone else ever tried this? I'd be too scared to.
I tried a different approach which worked for me more than once. I heavily soak the leftover padding with 3m Adhesive or other remover. (I poored it into a spray bottle and just sprayed the daylights out of it) Ten I cover it with a sheet of plastic (garbage bags will do) to keep the air out and keeping it from evaporating right away and letting it soak real good.
Next day with a little work it ussually comes up without too much hassle. I will admit yours looks more like a Wookie but can't hurt to try a few different things.
