the deep pan will come with a extension and longer bolt to lower the filter. I have a b&m deep pan and thats what it came with.
The TH350 I had in my old red Vette had a deep sump transmission pan but no extensions or extra bolts. Is B&M the only group that does add them? The only reason to lower the filter would be if the fluid fill level were to change, and that would require a different dipstick. If the fluid fill level is unchanged then I don't see a reason why the filter would need to be lowered.
i have a th400 in mine. It has a half inch thick flange where it bolts so i would guess thats why i have to have the extension. I dont know if b&m just has them or not. i do not have pics. the extension is not very long its about 1.5 to 2 inches long and the bolt is just a little longer that factory. my pan is not a cheap one either its the 120 dollar cast aluminum deep pan that adds 2 qrts.

Anywhere back in the late 70's for sure. One ton dualies with T-400's usually had them. Did many of them back in the day.
Best bet is probably Chevy or GMC dealer. It's just a plastic extension tube and a bolt..so shouldn't cost much.
A local trans rebuild shop might have some laying around....but I'd probably just hit dealer to save time. Probably won't be in stock, but they could have it in a day or so.
