Default Wrong NOS 73 tail lamps

My original tail lamps had hairline cracks, so I ordered some NOS ones to keep my car all original (so I thought). The backup ones (inner) were a perfect match. However the tail lamps (outer) have the lettering upside down. They came in original, old looking GM packaging. I even called another vendor and had them visually inspect their NOS and it was the same thing. Are reproductions the only solution?

I have found a few taillamps on 73's with the lettering upside down and have saved a couple. I think that GM made some that way during 73 and they were sold over the counter at GM dealers and may have also been installed on original cars as that is where I found them. You could polish up a pair of original lenses.
