Default One slow headlight....

I have the same left headlight is slower than the right problem other people have posted about.I did the test from the corvette 101 page where you block off the green port and apply vacuum with a vacuum pump to the yellow port. The page says the vacuum should be maintained. I did the test on both headlights and both do not hold vacuum. Any ideas?! Both relays are aftermarket as well.

I was told to spray a lube on the seal in the back of the actuator.

not sure but mine do the same.. i have a lazy eye on the left... it takes about 30 seconds to come up when the right gets up in about 1 sec. ive replaced all of the vacuum lines from the engine to both headlights. and i lubed up all the springs and the left seems to be getting slower... ??? should i be testing the vacuum from the manifold??? or apply manual vacuum with a pump and check if they are bleeding down? what down there goes bad? the actuator tank that the vacuum line plugs into?

It seems like you might have bad actuator. they should hold vacuum for a while. Or the by pass valve under the dash is not doing its job

I did test both actuators after testing the relays. What does not make sense is the passenger headlight that comes up at normal speed is leaking on both sides (the close function and the open function). Amazingly, the headlight that comes up slow is not leaking. I would say that is a head scratcher wouldn't you guys?

Mine were kinda slow last year, one coming up much slower than the other (but faster than 30 seconds). The left one sometimes wouldn't come up all the way and lock.

I installed new seals on the actuators and they come up so darn fast now that bang against the stops. I was actually looking to put some rubber bumpers on the stop to quiet them down.

Try lubing all the joints and bushings. Both of mine were erratic and both are now much better.

There's a big bolt thats kinda short....kinda hard for me to describe where it is. Both of mine were loose. Rather than the mechanism pivoting on the bushing it was pivoting on threads. Over time the bolts had begun to back out causing slop in the mechanisms. I disassembled most of the pivots, thouroughly cleaned everything, lubbed the bushings and various pins and re-assembled.

Since then both lights work much better. You'd be surprised at how much crud, dirt, rust and paint accumulates up under there over time.
