Okay fellows I have an 80 model vette that I want to run true duals with an H-pipe because I am told it sounds better with some type of crossover pipe. So that leads me to the very back of the system and my question. Should I just run straight pipes or have some type of muffler and if a muffler is recommended what kind?? I was thinking about using chambered mufflers. Thanks for the help guys
I have true duals with a H-pipe on my '80. I highly recommend headers while you're at it. You won't be completely satisfied unless you do.
Go straight back from the headers and put the H-pipe reasonably close to the front cross member.
Cut out a 2 1/2" arc from the driver's side of the cross member to get some ground clearance you'll need, weld in a piece of 2 1/2" exhaust pipe to add strength back to the cross member keep water and dirt out.
Definitely use mufflers! I chose Flo-Pro because they cost half as much as Flowmasters or MagnaFlows. You'll still have a great sound.
