The bypass hose fitting on my 72 BB intake has a slot on the end but no bolt surface for a socket. Looks to be original. Is there some type of a socket that has a slot? Thought I would ask before attempting to remove it by other means...vice grips.
I'd try something in the slot, a piece of metal stock that fits? After 35 years though, I'd be careful about breaking it off. Any signs of corrosion? Maybe soak it with PB Blaster overnight first.

If you're not trying to save it you could weld a nut to the top of the nipple, and take it out with a socket and breaker bar.
You make a very good point. I may just leave it alone since the motor is built and ready to go. It would be my luck that it would snap off in the intake. If it was'nt for the shinny new stainless replacement that I have...I would not have even asked the question.

You need a drag ling socket tool. They are used to adjust drag links in steering systems on older cars. Look like a large slotted screwdriver head with a square female socket
