The SOF community has always had its fare share of Corvette people. During the Viet Namn era, it was an inside joke, that you could always tell a SF soldier because of his black star saphire ring, rolex watch, and his Vette. When I left V.N. I left a friend there who said he was not coming home untill he had enough money to pay cash for a new Vette. During the El Salvadore era there were lots of Vettes running around Ft. Bragg.
I am old now and out of the loop, but I suspect it is the same. The general public have no idea of the sacrifices these men make for there country and team mates.

Used to be a lot of things, since then the base cost of a corvette has risen ~50%(30K to 45K in 2006 dollars) relative to income and the dollar, not to many vettes on posts.
