Both spring and fork go inside the collar.

I was just getting ready to ask a question about the clutch throw-out bearing fork and I saw this post.
Is it possible to replace the fork without dropping the transmission?

Nope, has to come out. Isn't really that hard. I can go from fully assembled to everything removed in about an hour.

After the drive shaft is dropped, is there enough room to back out the transmission without having to remove the engine mount bolts to get more room?

You pull the driveshaft and then the shifter. Once that is done you can slide the trans back so that the front of the input shaft will clear the back of the bellhousing.

You have to give him a head start, Justin. After all you have pulled yours a few times(I'm following your other thread) and plus .....I'm sure you have wing nuts on it by now!

I should put some studs in there so I can use wing nuts. Would make it easyer.

Like your first picture - everything inside the collar. I've pulled and replaced my tranny many times, and I'd be hard pressed to do it in less than several hours, so count of making a day of it. Most of it's simple, but the shifter bolts are hard to get to and so are some of the mounting bolts.
