Default VB&P Front Monospring Install Help

Ok, I have my front monospring completely installed but the instructions are missing some of the torque specs for a few bolts. I emailed Pattie at VB&P and I'm sure I'll get a response but I'm posting this here for two reasons.

1) Hopefully I'll get a quicker response since VB&P is closed now.

2) Since the instructions are missing the torque specs, somebody else might find this information useful later.

So, I need to know how tight to tighten the two 1/2" x 4" shoulder bolts that are in the kit. These are the two bolts that connect the spring mounting blocks to the frame brackets. There are only two of these bolts in the kit and I cannot find the torque spec for them.

Thanks in advance!

The torque specs are in the 1 page instruction sheet.

Installing Monospring:

Step 3 tighten bolts 8-10 ft/lbs. Any more and you will bend the steel mounting plates.

Installation of New Lower Control Arms

Step 2 the 9/16 bolt is 95 ft/lbs, the 2 7/16 bolts are 70 ft/lbs.
step 3 ball joint stud 60-90 ft/lbs

You can also find the instructions on VBP's website

I read that part of the instructions to be just for the eight 5/16" bolts that wrap around the spring. The steel mounting plates that wrap around the spring are pretty thin compared to the thick plates that the shoulder bolt goes through. I would have guessed that it would take a lot more than 10 ft/lbs to bend the thicker plates. That said, I can see where they may have been referring to all the bolts that were installed up to that point. The two bolts I was questioning are mentioned in step one below.

Installation of Monospring:
1. Bolt spring mounting block (Item #5) to spring mounting bracket. (Bracket is attached to lower control arm shaft.) Make sure rubber pad on block faces down. To bolt on, insert 1/2” x 4” shoulder bolt (Item #6) through one of four center holes on the mounting bracket. (Hole selection determines spring rate. See spring rate guide at end of instructions.) When installing block, make sure grease fitting on mounting block faces wheel for easy lubrication. Install flat washer and lock nut (Items #7 & 8) onto end of shoulder bolt.
2. Repeat on other side.
3. Reinstall shocks.
4. Attach the Monospring (Item #1) to both mounting blocks using the (eight) 5/16” bolts, the mounting plates, the 5/16” hex bolts and lock washers (Items #9, 10 & 11). Make sure the rubber pads on the mounting plates face up toward the spring and are firmly attached to plate. Do both sides.
5. Torque bolts to 8 to 10 ft/lbs. Do not over-tighten and bend plates!
6. Attach the spring ends to the lower control arms using the (two) 9/16” x 8” spring bolts, rubber cushions and flat washers (Item #12). Run the nylock nuts up onto the bolt threads, leaving a minimum of 1-1/2” of thread showing on bolt ends. If needed, jack spring up so enough thread is available for attaching nut.
7. Reconnect sway bar.
8. Lubricate grease fittings on ball joints and spring mounting blocks.
9. Reinstall wheels.
10. Take car off jack stands and lower to ground.

Thanks. VB&P confirmed that the torque of these two bolts isn't that important as long as they are not overtighted to the point where the silver block can't rotate freely. I went with 30 ft lbs like you did and that seems good.
