I was unable to remove the temp sender from the original heads that I just sold. I was afraid to get too agressive removing the sensor, as I had already sold them and didn't want to break or strip anything (alum heads).
I have read that there were different versions of the sender for different model years and I want to get one whose resistance will match the gauge in my '75.
Has anyone purchased one that worked for this year? Do you have a part number/model?
They said that this cross-referenced a different part and it was $8. It is possible that it is the wrong part, but their site implies that they should know what works and what doesn't. I already had an order coming, so no extra shipping. Also, my experience with Willcox is that they always stand behind their sales. If they suggest the wrong part or send me the wrong part, they always make it right.

Thanks for your reply....no doubt they'll take care of you. I was just confused about the pricing and the different part numbers that their site provides.
We have a cross reference in our main computer system that is not correct! They should not have number changed this part but they were just following the computer suggestions!
A few years ago, Wells told us the TS46 was a cheaper replacement for the original 6490453 (which is pictured on our instructions sheet) sending unit. No one ever changed the cross reference and so when you called they followed the two options to the cheaper sender for you. TS46 is not a replacement and will not work! The info sheets on our site and the part numbers on our web site are correct and should not be subsituted.
I saw this post and logged in to the system to check the invoice to see what they sold you and it is wrong! I apologize!
I have left a note on the Sales desk for tomorrow morning to get you the correct sender on the way. If the sender is already to you by now, keep it! It’s not worth us sending a mailing label to get it back. The will contact you tomorrow and invoice you for the correct part.
Thought I would post some kudos for Willcox. That are not perfect (just like me), but always do the right thing. This seems to be a trait not shared by all vendors that I work with.
I realized my message was not really clear. I meant this as a compliment. The trait not shared by others is making things right for the customer. We all makes mistakes. I seem to make them daily. What separates good companies from the bad are the way that they handle them.
We are grateful that you are not steaming mad at us for sending the wrong part the first time. We are also thankful for the compliment!
Yes you are correct about how to handle problems and mistakes. We have made our fair share of mistakes and as you said, it's what you learn and how you handle them that show character. We appreciate the business.
