Default Alarming noise

hello,
Yesterday when i start my vette i've heard this kind of smacking, knocking, from the engine. It seems to come from the right valve cover
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=aJxxQB1zWvc
The rockers appears to be moving the same amounts and at idle, I get 600 rpm and 38psi oil pressure on the gauge (350ci 5,7l)
I don't like this!!!!
any idea??
thanks to let me know and what i'm going to do .

WOW....sounds bad. Loose rocker is the best case scenario. Bent push rod, cam lobe gone....it actually sounds like it's more than one rocker making noise.I wouldn't run it at all until you take it apart and find out what it is.

ouch, that sounds painful. Almost like a thrown rod or a bad main bearing. If it sounds like it's coming from the top end, check to see that you haven't dropped a valve face or a valve seat (rare but it happens) and check your valve lash with the engine off.

What do you normally get at idle? Is this the same or different? If the oil pressure is now different, I would think you would need to be looking at your bearings.

You should also get your head under the car, down by the oil pan and listen. Is the knock louder or quieter down there.

Certainly sounds like a rod knock or piston slap.

Hi,

the oil pressure is the same as before.
all the rockers are squirting oil but not so much and it's not the rain when i speed up, only some drops of oil!!
Under the car this knacking is quieter..i will say "hushed-up"

Do you have a hydraulic cam? First thing I would do would be to check the total lift from the cam to see if you are losing a cam lobe. You can do the "bubba" engine stethoscope and use a length of wood touched to various parts of the running engine with your ear to the other end and listen for the noise. It will help you localize the source. Just don't get it close to moving parts and put a wood dowel through your ear! On second thought, go to the auto parts store and purchase a proper stethoscope .
