Default decisions...

I have to make a decision.
I am looking for a 1980 or 1981 vette. My only requirements are that it must be black on black. I found a few cars but I don't know which one to buy. Here is my list...
1981 Black on black 4 speed in Michigan(I can inspect) $8900(maybe flexible) was told the car is not what the pictures show though

1980 black on black auto with side pipes and new motor and rims (I cannot inspect cause its in Oregon) for $7000 some sort of door damage near lock but pictures look great WOULD NEED TO BE SHIPPED $$$

1980 black on tan 4 speed (uncle can inspect) forum member and sounds like a very solid car around $7500
No pics right now

1979 black on black 4 speed with "450 HP" for $8000 I may be able to inspect

I guess I prefer 4 speeds but I also like power. I know I need to make the decision but I am looking for some input. What do you guys think? It will be used as a driver that will be brought to local shows (not looking to win anything) and some visits to englishtown but just for fun nothing serious. What do you think shipping would be from Oregon cause that would make a difference for that car. I have done so much searching it is crazy but I am looking for some input.

Well, I shipped from Austin, TX to Chicago, IL for about $600 - so not too bad I think. Trailer was open and car could not be covered (safety hazard) but I recognized I had some things to fix.

Hooker side pipe kit - $1500
"450" HP engine - more than $1500 if that's really what it is.

Is that blue smoke comming out of that side pipe?

Can you have any additional pictures or a video made of the cars you can't inspect? That's what I did and I think it worked out pretty well. Particularly underneath so you can see if the frame is in good condition.

That is my problem. Every car has its little perks and drawbacks. My dream car would be an 80 black on black 4 speed with a built 383 and side pipes but I know I will never find anything close to that for $8000. I have more pictures of all the cars but I didn't want to post them because that would make the thread really long. I am really leaning towards the car with side pipes and rims just because the engine was rebuilt and the body seems pretty straight. I just wish it was a 4 speed and a little closer. It is in Oregon and I go to school in Michigan and have a house in NJ. Anyone in Oregon willing to look at a car in Salem? The Black on tan 4 speed sounds like a very solid car with low miles too. I can also inspect that one but I know it will have no power and obviously the interior is tan.

i wouldnt buy a car that i couldnt see or at least knew someone i trusted to fully check it out for me. ppl tell you things online that arent true and then you dont get what you payed for. be aware that if you like power then buying an 81 is no easy job to make fast. it is an awesome model and i have one but to modify its a pain in the butt.
