Default MUFFLERS -- What do you like ??

What's your favorite "performance" mufflers for an early C3?
I know, everyone's got an opinion and a preferance... and that's what I'm after here.
Specifically, I'm looking for options vs the 2-chamber Flowmasters I'm currently running. I'm OK with "loud"... it's a big block car and I like it to speak with authority. But under acceleration the Flowmasters get a bit edgy or rattly sounding. Wondering what's out there that would stay deep, low, and throaty even under hard acceleration.
Borla? Magnaflow? 3-chamber Flowmaster? Others?
Chime in. I appreciate it!

I have had Flowmaster 40's on the '72 and felt they were too loud overall, especially at idle. I have also bolted up a set of stock (reproductions) which I actually like for sound, I guess the older I get the quieter I like it, but currently have a set of Magnaflows on there and they are a nice compromise, not overly loud, decent idle volume and they flow much better than the stock style. For me in a perfect world I would love something that flows like the Magnaflows but had a decibel level between them and stock.

That's what I prefer, but sound, like color and art and women etc. is so subjective you just have to sample enough of them to find what you like (especially the women part ). Good luck!

Borla XR-1's are really hard to beat in terms of hp and sweet sound. Some on this very Forum have called the sound Borla equipped Mustangs make as, orgasmic. If that fits what you are looking for, then look no further, because your search is over. I'm personally familiar with a SuperCharged Mustang Cobra with Borla's, and it is one of the coolest sounding cars I've ever heard. I like the Borla's so much that I already bought them for my 540 that isn't even done yet.

What about Cherry Bombs......I have been looking at those and they are a little cheaper. My Dad has a pair on his 62 ..327 and it has a nice rumble...his are glass packs, but they make others.

I'm really happy with my headers, 2.5" CC system and a set of Magnaflows...sounds authorative but not overly loud to disturb the neighbors

I have Dynomax their not too loud, and they have the mounting brackets like the original mufflers.
