I recently replace my oil pan with a baffled unit. Of course when I took the old one off I threw away the metal strips that are installed on the outside edges of the oil pan. Evidently these are to distribute the bolt pressure evenly over the pan/gasket contact (?).
Anybody know where I can find replacements? I've tried the local chevy dealer and other online sources and can't locate any.
I don't have any additional metal strips on any of my oil pans. There's a slightly raised rib between each of the holes. There ARE reinforcements at the 4 larger bolt holes at the front and real seals but that's it.
Interesting. I just cant seem to get the damned pan to fully seal. I checked it before installation to be sure if was flat.
It's an aftermarket pan and a couple of the bolts are to close to the pan to get them tightened correctly. I guess I may have to put a couple washes on a slightly longer bolt.
