Stalls in Reverse

Guys, I put my quadrajet back in my car today, seems to be running better now. I also removed the edelbrock fuel pump and went back to a stock pump.
I took it out for the first run of the season and went to go show it off to my brother in law that has a BMW 335XI (he thinks it will beat my car). When I was backing out of the driveway I hopped on it and it stalled after it did a little burn out. What would cause this??

did u let off the gas? that would do it. stunt driving in reverse requires practice.

Yep, let right off the gas, just gave her a quick shot. So, what you are saying is this is common in our older cars?

carbs need a big shot of gas at first;
if u abort it will be too rich and maybe stall.
a faster, leaner, idle helps
