1975 had to "stand" on the brakes this past weekend to get it to stop.
I have read numerous threads and still have a question/s. I have had this car about 10 years - every 3 years I have brake problems - about 3 years ago rotors were fixed, new calipers, new master, new booster and new rear brake line (the front brake lines were replaced 5 years ago.) OK, so almost everything has been replaced - what's next the proportioning valve, distribution block in back? Or, after three years does it need a flush and bleed? Why am I so lucky when I know people that never have to worry about their brake system?
Tnx Peter
As long as they are working properly, I wouldn't worry about them. I have done brake work on my '76 but just a few times in the 32 years I've owned it and, btw, the proportioning value is original as is the dist. block. You should flush the brake fluid every couple of years, though, as it tends to take on moisture. This is true with all cars. Good luck.

Sorry, forgot to answer your main question. I would follow the above advice but also check the brake fluid level in your m/c and for leaks around it and the calipers, hoses, etc.
Have plenty of fluid and don't have any leaks. The brake dash light came on when brakes extremely soft (stand on) just after I got caught in a rainstorm. Checked the electrical connection for the dash light at the valve and it's old but seems ok. Looked at the booster - the check valve was about 1/8 " away from the booster -took hose off and tightened to make flush, then will get a new booster hose. Hope that takes cares of it. Will let you know.
