As you may or may not know, I put a '94 LT1 in my ' 76 . Up till now, it's been running great . Today, however, it decided to stall out of nowhere ! I'd come to a stop, the tach would jump all over the place and , good night ! It started but not right up . Also, it wanted to die as I was driving . I haven't checked for error codes, as I wanted to run it by you guys . Maybe this has happened to someone else ? The injectors were replaced a few months back . As I said, great running until today ! Any help and ideas are much appreciated !
I had a friend that had the same thing going on the only code it was trowing was a anti theft code. He ended up replacing his ECU and tac filter to clean the problem up. This is after he spent a lot of money replacing the opti spark and just about every other sensor.
Well, guess what ? After pulling the codes, more than once, I now know the problem . Unfortunately , it was the death code ! Opti-beast is the root of the problem I replaced it once, and I'm well aware of the upcoming nightmare ! I already have one on order, along with the water pump ( didn't want to take a chance !) .
So, to all who left ideas, many thanks
Is this a full LT4 transplant, or did you put a LT1-4 mani on another engine....??? I did, on my L98 for simplicity, problem was I was NOT going to use that opti, no matter what, the largest thing was to make a dizzy pad and cut out the EGR boss/mounting , and welding in a dizzy pad cut off a olde rotted out aluminum manni.....
it works really well, with a stock L98 dizzy, now how that matches up with your computer assuming a full LT4 setup, is anyone guess, I dunno, but I suspect something needs changed....
With what you are spending on the opti and the water pump you could upgrade to the DELTEQ DIS.All it is ,is a NORTHSTAR 95-99 module and coils along with some harnesses(2) and their prosessor.
If you source your own module and coils, the cost is less than 500.00 and all the opti does is give a reference signal for crank position. You will need to get some custom wires....I'd go MSD or Taylor but they do have thier own custom wires for you application.
Personally,I'd rather have 4 30-40,000 volt coils instead of 1 www.delteq.com for info.
