I will post some pics of my gear pattern with the Richmond gears. It doesn't look that bad and I have no idea where the whine was coming from. Anyway, I have an original 3.55 from a '78 to put right back in.
That sounds about right. I drop mine with the X member still attached. Make the install way easier. I can have it out in about the same time. Now if it is the first time out and everything is rusted add hours and lots of %#@*&%$ and skinned knuckles.

From day one about 20 years ago when I installed 4.11 richmond gears I had a whine on compression braking. I called richmond and they had me go through the back lash VS forward lash and it was nearly equal. I have not let it bother me since.
I go into the garage this morning to find the hood prop down, next thing i know i realize that the rear jackstands had been kicked out and the rear was just sitting on the floor (the front has the wheels on, im rebuilding the rear suspension) turns out my mom bumped the corvette from the back and knocked the jackstands out so the rear fell, there's no trailing arms on or strut rods or rear spring, so far i can see that the strut rod mounting bracket is bent, and the underside dual exhaust seemed to cushion the car and amazingly didnt get bent or crushed. Is it possible that there was frame damage? Anything specific I should look for? It looks as if it landed on the left exhaust pipe with the strut bracket, and the exhaust pipe caused the bracket to bend, while on the right side i think it just came to rest on the bracket and didnt bend it.
Fell from about 8-9 inches (lowest possible level on the stands)
almost had a heart attack, how worried should i be?
