Default C3 advice for a C4 guy

So as the old story goes. My neighbor stops by the other day and tells me his brother is looking to get rid of his 77 C3. Their father had it since new and it has only approx. 30K miles on it. It is all original and it is in good condition, according to them. The issue is it has a bad rear hub and the brother tried to repair it with a new one but gave up on it 5 years ago as he really is not good with tools. He has all new hub parts for both sides, not sure what parts they all have, and they would all come with the car. It has not been run in 5 years but has been stored indoors and covered. My neighbor says his brother would sell for less then $10K, I figure it should well below that number. I'm going to try to go look at it in person to get the details and see if all the hype is true. Any advice on what to really look for besides the mechanical stuff? I know my C4 inside and out but not the C3's.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Here's an article for you to read. It's always a good idea to take someone with you who really knows C's, even if you have to pay for the inspection, before you put your money down. Good luck.

A '77 that has sat for 5 years and can't be driven because of mechanical problems is worth about $5-6K..unless the paint is perfect (and absolutely original)...then maybe $6-7K.
