I installed the complete Vette Brakes sport suspension. I love the way this suspension rides and she corners like no other. The problem is that it squeeks. I can't seem to find where it squeeks from but it sounds like it is coming from the new "A" arms. All the bushings are neoprene. Is there something I can put on these to stop the squeeke?

Thanks!!

Did you cut the steel sleeves? You may have cut them too much. There should be a gap between the washer and the bushing.

The A arms came as an assembly, I just installed them. If I spray silicone will that harm them at all?

That squeak is most likely your bushings (which aren't neoprene, if you haven't caught on yet) binding, as you didn't mention greasing them during assembly with marine grade or synthetic goo having a high resistance to washout.

I'm just getting ready to install the same kit poly bushing from VBP, is there a particular brand of goo you'd recommend?

You can't go wrong with a thorough coat of the Energy Suspension grease.

Make sure you have weight on the car when you tighten the control arms.

The arms came pre assembled, all I did was install them. There are no grease fittings on either end. Can they or should they be adjusted?

I have got the same problem with my arms pre-assembled from VB&P with the front monospring conversion. Its not noticeable driving on normal streets, etc. but when I have to pull into a steep driveway or go over a speed bump the front squeaks.

If the bushings are rubber. Poly can be tightened with the suspension at full droop.

Ok, my bad...I used the term neoprene instead of polyurethane...either way they are synthetic bushings, not rubber and they squeak!! I just wanted to know if there was something that could be used on them or is this normal? Sounds like it is the norm.

Thanks

No, it isn't the norm, unless the bushings aren't properly greased. Did the instructions say anything about removing the bushings and greasing before installation? My ES bushings came assembled, but the instructions said to pull them apart and grease them thoroughly before installation.

My experience is that this is the norm with poly bushings. Try some sillycone spray.

NO, it's not.

Again, as the Bat correctly pointed out, this is only the "norm" if you fail to properly lube them. When poly bushings squeak they are telling you that they are binding, which is an undesirable condition. Spraying silicone at them, tho easier than doing the right thing, is not all that great a cure.

There were no instructions with the assembly...had a hell of a time getting them in. I think I will pull them apart and grease them as per The Skunkworks word. I would hate to have to replace them again.

Thanks all

Had the same problem with an older car - '95 - garage said to replace the struts - shade tree mechanic sprayed poly bushings with WD40 - no more noise.

It could be the sway bar bushings. Energy Suspension supplies a small tube of clear grease as well as grease fittings. What that grease is I do not know.

As I understand the situation, OEM rubber bushings grab the bar and twist with it as one unit. With poly the bar rotates within the bushings introducing the possibility of noise/squeaking. Hence the need for lube.

This rubber bushing was badly twisted.

This is the new Energy Suspension poly with fitting.
