Default Battery disconnect switch....

Gents

Purchased a battery disconnect switch.
The model to be installed away from the battery. Not the manual **** on the battery post.

I'm thinking of installing it just behind/beside the driver's seat where I can reach in with my right hand when I sit in my vette. The switch would be located between the seat and console. Not in plain view...

Any other suggestions ?

Phil

I made a bracket and mounted it beside the battery where it can't easily be seen.

The one I am installing has a remote control switch for it. I can operate it as i am leaving/approaching the vehicle. It will look like I am just locking/unlocking the doors.

PS I am seriously thinking about a security system that will immobilize the car if the alarm goes off so I will not need this unit. PM me if you are interested.

PPS Sorry.... I checked the link and it doesn't go the item. If you do a search for "intelligent battery guard" in their quick search section it should show you the item.

I have a cut off for 3 reasons;
1) My car can set for several weeks. So the battery won't discharge
2) To make it harder to steal
3) So the 35 year old wiring won't short and burn down my house.

The Summit unit has a note that "solenoid current requirements might fully discharge the battery if left activated for extended periods". Seems that rules out 1 and 3 ?

The "intelligent battery guard" also has a feature that if the battery gets to a certain discharge level it will automatically shut everything off so you still have enuf power to start the car.

My door locks are in need of rebuild (pawls and locks don't connect well enough to consistently lock and unlock).

This sounds like an easier option. Install this unit and put the manual switch in the glove box...

Do these guys ship to the US or is there anybody in Canada who can help me out.
