I am in the process of installing a Performer Intake Manifold (3701 with a Quadrajet) and it turns out that the mounting point for the thermostatic coil is higher than on the stock manifold. What can I do about this? Are there replacement rods I can purchase? Do I have to fiddle with what I have?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Edelbrock makes a selection of rods for such applications. If you're trying to install a Quadrajet on a #2101 Performer, the rod you need is #9171. They have several other rods, depending on the intake you're installing.
You should be able to get the rods from Summit Racing, Jegs or Edelbrock.
Get a piece of 1/8 welding rod or a wire coat hanger and start bending. Use the original one for a pattern, just adjust the overall length for your application. Much cheaper than buying one that may not be exactly correct.

You can groove the end for a retaining clip with a pair of dikes or side cutting pliers.
