So I finally got my new BTO crossmember in. I guess the bracket for the emergency brake is not in the same location because I have a ~ton~ of slack in the cable now.
<<insert BTO rant here>>
So anyway, I cant adjust the cable enough under the car. So before I pull my center console... how does this cable attach the handle & is it relatively easy to eliminate a few inches at that end by recrimping it?
I had to reroute my cable to the top of the trailing arms for tire clearance and that made it necessary to shorten the cable. I cut the cable near the center point but on the passenger side and overlapped about 2 inches. I used two small cable clamps from Home Depot to hold the splice together. Works good.
Admittedly, I have real problem with overcomplicating projects to find the most "elegant" solution. I wish my brain would let me do that, but I'll be staring at those clamps every time I'm under the car -- which is a totally different problem.

I know what you mean. The good thing is, the clamps are behind the engine/trans and in front of the rear so they are not in my field of vision too often.
