Good morning, sully tells me that I can find out anything about my 72 c-3 on this forum so I am using his post until mine is approved. Anyway, I have changed the trans from a t400 to a 700r4 but now that it’s all back together it will not start. The only thing I can think of is the switch on the shifter itself, any ideas on how to test or adjust the switch?
The car has a remote starter solenoid due to the headers but all was working fine until the trans change. When I turn the key the volt meter shows a good charge but then nothing happens, no click, motor dosnt turn or anything? Any ideas at this point would help.
Did you have the shifter out altering it to have the 4 positions, and maybe forgot to plug in the neutral safety switch connector? See the following url for troubleshooting help.. Note bottom diagram shows automatic.
I had the shifter out but never removed the switch from the car, I don’t think I disconnected the switch but I will double check. Thanks for the diagram it should help me find the problem.
power shows on the ammeter and when the ignition switch is turned nothing happens at the engine... still thinking something with the neutral safety switch... opened center consol and the safety switch looks like it has been bypassed.... purple large guage 2 wire coming out of the harness there is bypassed... off the neutral safety switch is the two pink wires and one green..... the green and one of the pinks goes to a two plug harness that I know is for the rear backup lamps... but what is the other pink wire.... and does it even matter if the purple wires are bypassed and already linked together? Any help here guys would be great.
thanks
sully
