This is my first post here, though I've been reading for a while. Gotten lots of great tips.
Anyways, I've been having just a dandy time trying to find some wheels for my vette. I want to put 15x8" in front (stock size) and 15x10" in the rear. After a week of fruitless searching I was wondering if anyone else had attempted this and if there were any places I should look.
Also, I'm somewhat unsure of the more specific dimensions for wheels on the 1980. I know it's 5x4 3/4" (or 120.65mm) bolt circle, but what offset would I need and what backspacing on a 10" wide wheel? I've read that it can be 3 3/4" offset, I've read 4"....I'm not sure what to believe.
Stock backspacing is 4" I think. If you were to find a 10" wide rim it would need to be close to that backspacing or you'd likely need wheel adapters and flares, or offset trailing arms.
Yeah, I'm trying to avoid spacers if at all possible. Something about them seems like a bad idea to me, especially since I'd eventually like to push a good deal of HP on them.

You're right to be scared by spacers, but I'm talking adapters. They are at least 1" thick, and bolt to the hub just like the wheel. So long as they are hub centric, the wheels will bolt to them just as they do the hub and will support a lot of HP. For even more safety, you can have the holes all drilled out for 1/2" studs to replace the small stock ones.
