The tach.,gas gauge and oil press. maintain thier readings when I shut the ignition off. Then When I turn the ignition back on they zero out untill the car starts, I'm not sure this has always happened I just noticed it.....(duhhh) Is this good / bad, right / wrong ...........

OMG - John, I see your an engineer also. I gotta tell you - the gauge situation means your car is going to self destruct in around three weeks. So I will sacrifice myself and take it off your hands so it self destructs on me and not you. LMK and I'll stop by later next week to truck it away for you before it is too late
Seriously - I'm with sixfooter - not much to worry about when ignition off. I did some testing of my (electrical) tack (on the bench) and noticed it would stay at some non-zero value when removed the input signal. As long as the gauges read correctly when engine running ....
