Engine doesn't start
after intial first start up of crate engine Thur. night I started it 2 or 3 times running it for a few min. each time. yesterday after installing throttle spring and dumping gas into carb from bumping linkage Car would not start Flooded? tried Flood starting procedure several time to no avail. It was suggested yesterday that I pull plugs and hand dry but I did not have time to try that. Question is today do I still need to pull plugs or can I just try to start engine? Carb is holly 4150 no choke. car is still up on jacks so pulling plugs does look fun, but will do as advised.

Ok pulled plugs looked damp smelled like gas wiped off, brushed off, blow off with air. turned engine over breifly cut off end of spark plug wire with a\c compressor

If a new engine is flooded it can wash the cylinder walls- rings haven't seated yet. Give each cylinder a shot of oil. That'll help seal the rings for start. Common problem IMHO. No deal either. THe rings just need to get seated.
