NA9 was required in all Corvettes delivered to CA in 1970, but I've been told that it does not mean that the other 49 states didn't get cars built with NA9. There have been a few documented cases of non-CA cars getting NA9. It's an interesting question...
I have a '70 LT1/ZR1 with NA9, and it's history is based in the Indiana, Illinois area. The build sheet is missing the zone number (mouse ate it), but it does show dealer number 183. I suspect the car was ordered by a serviceman stationed in CA and delivered to a Guaranty Chevy in San Diego or Dailey Chevy in San Leandro. Both locals had dealer #183's at the time.
I have 70 LT1 delivered to a dealer in CA - it has the NA9 ... so this supports CA cars having them ... but doesn't help as to whether non-CA cars have them - ED
My 1970 LT-1 does not have NA-9 emissions (Georgia delivery) and any LT-1 with the Holley List # 4555 carb should not. California LT-1's had Holley List # 4489 carb with float bowl vent for emissions on front float bowl. The Holley #4889 also had fuel bowl stuffing blocks inside the float bowls to reduce the amount of fuel in the float bowl for the governemnt's emissions vapor test (done in a sealed chamber) and if any of you NCRS type guys out there need some so you can be ABSOLUTELY CORRECT , I have quite a few sets from when I worked "wonders" on improving the performance of my friend's HP Chevies in the 1970's.
