My carb has been acting up, The engine is backfiring on decel; When I get on it, it feels sluggish and boggs. Has anyone tried a direct replacement carb and ifso how do you like it and which one did you get, or do you recommend sending it to Lars for a rebuild. If you recomend Lars, how would I get in contact wih him?

Thanks
Dino

It sounds like it is leaning out. This could be nothing more that a little dirt gumming up the works or a vacuum leak. Check all the vacuum hoses and connections for leaks. If you're comfortable with it, remove the carburetor from the engine and take the top off. Get some carburetor cleaner in all of the fuel inlet and passages to clean them out. Make sure the air bleeds are clean. Make sure the power piston is free in its bore. Record the jet/rod combo.

Report back.
