Default Horsepower Upgrade ???

I have a pretty much stock 71 coupe with the original 270hp/350 and TH400.

I would like to bump the horsepower up to 300 or 350 while keeping the stock appearance. Not sure what route I should take and keep the price tag within reason. I would appreciate any recommendations.

Again I want to keep the stock appearance (willing to go with 68-70 intakes, heads, carbs, or other ) without any aftermarket components.

Staying stock and respecting CA smog rules you're going to have a hard time getting your HP numbers.

You can change internal components, like maybe even a stroker kit, and have the heads done by a machine shop...or bump the compression with different pistons, decking, gaskets, and a cam and lifter swap.

At this point I don't have to worry about California smog, because of the age of the car.

If your planning to upgrade the crank, rods and pistons, definitely look at a 383 or preferably a 396 stroker kit imo.
