Wiring problem on '78
Everything worked fine until a couple of days ago when the gauges and power windows quit working. They went out but when he messed with the switch for the air conditioning they started working temporarily. Now everything went out again and nothing brings it back. I think it must be a ground or some kind of short because in the owners manual it tells about the 10 amp circuit that seems to run all of the things that are not working. Even a relay for the power windows.
Thanks for any advise.

Last night he was messing with it again here at work and nothing seemed to work but when he drove it home, the gauges and everything started working again for a short time, then they went out again.
If anyone has any suggestions at all, or knows where to locate the ground for that circuit, he is all ears and about to pull his hair out over this problem.
Thanks everyone
From the description, I would start by pulling the center console and center gauges/bezal out and make sure there are no loose, frayed or broken wires. Trace them as far as possible on both sides of the dash - under on the drivers side and behind the glove box. They don't travel very far.
