76 Rear bumper replacement-wiring question?
Hello all! I am new to the forum but have already found many great ideas and answers on your site. I am currently in the process of replacing the rear bumper on my 76 with a Flexy glass bumper from Wilcox - so far so good. Except this - what is this electrical component in line with the tail light wiring? I don't recall disassembling it when removing the bumper - and yet there it is! I'ts on the passenger side, has two metallic strips and a rubber grommet at the base. I'm guessing alarm maybe????
I'm new to this photobucket thing so I hope this image link works!

If the wires are brown and green it is the side marker light. The alarm horn has yellow and pink and is on the driver side. It looks like some parts are missing from the bulb and maybe the socket, I'd have to check.
That's Black and Brown same as the side markers and tail lights. Going by Mr. Olson's '76 diagram Light green and Black is the back up lamps. Which is how my '76 is (I just redid it all last week). ( I made an incorrect statement above.) I did get the alarm part right, yellow and pink. Wires for fuel relay are tan and black and could be hanging around there also. I don't see any fittings like that on mine. I wonder if that hasn't pulled out of a socket. This is my right side tail, stop and signal light. Brown/Dark Green and the black.

Aktbird was right -it was the guts from the middle tail lamp in my posted pic - sdonnely's picture made me realize there should be three wires total present in the stop lamp, not just the one. Thanks all! This forum rocks and I'm sure I'll be back with more questions...in the meantime here's a pic of my stripped down car - bumper gone no beauty rings or rally caps - I kinda like it - it looks mean - like a shark!
