I just got done removing my front rotors from the hubs. It took a fair amount of beating with a punch/hammer to get the rivets out of the hub and I am afraid I might have bent the hub. I reinstalled the hub (with the old bearings which i still plan on replacing) just to see how much runout I have. The hub that i have checked (and that took the most beating) has .007-8 runout.
Question: Assuming I plan on shimming the rotor when I install it hopefully down to ~.002. How much runout is acceptable on the hubs before installing the rotors?
Also, my spindles that the hub goes on have developed some rust since i had them wrapped in tape to protect the threads while i was working with them and I guess some water got in under the tape. Can I wirebrush the rust off to smooth them up again and call them good, or will that take off too much metal?
