I just got finished bleeding my brakes in the old 77' and everytime I have ever gravity bleed the lines, it takes for ever.
This time, I had a I had gotten a syringe from the local pharmacy. Its a big one and have no idea what its used for. I basically used it to prime the lines by hooking to the bleeder with a short hose and using it to suck the fluid down the line from the master cylinder. It took about 2 minutes to get fluid to the new caliper and then let it gravity bleed from there. That took another 5 minutes and it worked great.
Just wanted to share this little tip with you guys.
Hope it helps someone!

Good TIp - maybe I'll give gravity bleeding another chance using your method cause I tried it per SSBC's instructions years ago and found it to be a waste of time and joke. Sounds like you need to help it out a little to work within a reasonable timeframe. .
Sorry about the spelling and thanks for the corrections. I try not to bleed that often or use syringes!!!!
The syringe I used is plastic and about 6" long and about 1" in diameter. I cant post pics with my computer but I can take one if someone wants to post it for me.
Thanks
Jimbo
I am happy that this can help! I took a pic before I put my wheels on if someone wants to post it for me. I used a 60cc Syringe. I think I it was under $1 for it at the pharmacy. I usually use it for filling the primary on my harley but I am pretty happy it worked for this.
