Default TPI Air Induction Options

Just finished a FIRST Fuel Injection installation on my 80 and am looking for options for the intake induction. Really don't like the single filter that is on it now and using the hood vents doesn't appear to be an option due to the pulleys being just behind the openings.

Does anyone have examples of induction setups on C3s they can post pictures of?

Thanks in advance...

Ed

I'm actually toying with the idea of a new setup myself and perhaps even having something custom made. I could see the same type of thing on your setup, which is sweet.

I'm thinking of something almost like a triangular vacuum cleaner intake or similar to the Callaway C6 Honker but in polished aluminum.

Sort of like below. Would be wider and pick up coming up from behind teh radiator. Just a thought:

Really like what you have done with your car! The pictures of examples didn't come through...

If you go to my site below you can see some pix of my up/over induction to a TPI/LT1 setup....I cut the rad support and held it together with a piece of steel iron bent down lo to just clear the condensor....it's not very neatly done, but it works well....

the only thing is, you need to have a BB hood on there, with the bottom of the stock hood all hollowed out for clearance, OR, you have to flatten out the induction pipe for clearance....but the concept works....

oh...you also have to eliminate the hinges.....I reverse hinged the hood as you can see, and use stainless pins into the old hinges

edit, the previous setup I had fashioned a aluminum box and cut a hole in the hood for it to mate up against for cooler air induction.....had some rubber like from pipe wrapping stuck to the aluminum flange the box looked like a top hat with rim around it for the rubber gasket material, but it was square, and bolted to the tbody bolts, surrounding the entire air cleaner....one bolt down into the aluminum L98 water pump hole for further stability....this did not require reversing the hood hinges....but it was not up and over induction either....I used the oval K/N cleaner similar to what your have now.....

Same thing here. I did not like the sngleon either.

I used an aftermarket one for the C5. Pic is bad and before I rerouted rad hose and cleaned up in there, but you can see it looks ok.

I have an aircleaner from Street & Performance with a large 4 inch deep filter element that has over twice the filtration area of one of the clamp on K&N cone filters. I also have a Mark VIII fan which allows me to have air flow through the area between the top of the radiator (Northern aluminum) and the bottom of the stock radiator support to get cool air to the filter. I am in the process of fabbing the sheetmetal ductwork to help direct this air to the filter.

I did similar but did not reverse the hood but limited how much the hood opens.

I changed the links on the pics above so hopefully everyone can see them.

Something like that in Aluminum would be great. Actually maybe Dean can whipe one up for me from a cardboard template!!!

Dean, what do you use for a filter under there? I love what you did and it almost looks like what I want to do with it.

I have a conical K&N down in front of the radiator just where the air comes in above the front air spoiler.

Hap Stern has the coolest setup I have ever seen. 572 big block with a Hogans manifold and custom air intake plenum over the rad shroud. He just posted pictures of it in the C3 picture thread.

Sorry to be so slow to respond, but I must of missed this thread. Thanks for the compliment. Here a few pics of my fuel injection set-up. Let me know if you have any questions or I can help with anything.

Man that's sharp! What kind of intake system is that? Is it aftermarket or fabricated?

Do you have any pictures of what it looks like off the car?
