pushrod questions
1) will a change in pushrod length change max valve lift?
2) would you say as a general rule, installing a cam with maybe .070 more lift and switching to full roller rockers will result in needing a longer pushrod
#2. Maybe... If a cam is cut with more lift, the tops of the lobes often can't be made any taller or they wouldn't clear the cam bearings; so therefore, the base circle is made smaller to increase the apparent height of the lobe. Since the average lobe height is now lower, often a longer pushrod length is needed. However, due to variations of cylinder head heights (different aftermarket brands), and valve lengths, it is always best to measure the rocker arm contact pattern on top of the valve stem. Adjust the length of the push rod as necessary to ensure that the contact pattern is centered on the valve stem.
