Default Reverse Lights and side marker cut

So I was under the rear of the care today to do some other work, and some routine inspection when I find a bunch of severed wires under the drivers rear side.

So I begin doing the pre-flight light check and come to find out one of the wires is for the rear side marker. The other one is for the reverse lights. had no idea those were not working. So I began the tedious task of re-wiring, terminating and getting everything back in working order.

Took a bit of time, but I am pleased to say that everything is fixed and my reverse lights work.

I wonder why they would have been cut? I cannot see any logical reason unless they got cut the last time someone painted the car, or something was wrong and the solution was to just start cutting wires until the problems went away...

Any reason why these wires would be cut? So far I find no shorts and everything seems to work just fine.

you never know what some one else has done over the years. some peoples electrical solution is wire cutters.
i found the wires cut to my power antenna, connected them and found out the motor was running all the time. the cable inside was broken. fixed the cable. and works ok now, some pervious owner decided it was easier to cut wires than repair the problem.
it would keep an eye on it to make sure something isnt shorted , good luck
