Default Kickdown is working!

Hy every US Vette owners
Finaly, i found the trouble with my TH 400 and the Kickdown wich didn't work. I don't know why but the plug on the throttle switch was pluged on the reverse side
I pluged it on the right side and my Kickdown did work
But i have a problem however. When i drive at 50 M/h and i push the throttle at WOT, the shift downs not 1 gear but 2 gears
It is 3rd, 2nd, and 1st??
So the engine go to the RED limit an then go to the 2nd as i wanted.
Have your TH 400 the same behaviour as mine and it is possible to prevent this kind of trouble
Thank you for your answer
PS: it is not easy for me to discribe my problem but i hope you'll anderstand

I said, the switch is connected on the wire with a plug, and it was connected on the opposite side (The left to the right and the right to the left)

It almost sounds like he's saying the switch was mounted with the plunger (slider?) facing the wrong direction. Not sure how (or if) that could actually be done.....if so, the pedal rod wouldn't make contact with the switch?? Just letting my mind wander....

hello,
At the beginning my problem wasn't the switch connection, but i just wanted to know if my gear box had a standard behaviour down-shifting 2 gears at 50m/h ?
How did your th 400 react when you are at the same conditions, and what should i do to rectify my trouble

Yes sir

refer back a couple of weeks and I was asking about the same problem for my Turbo-400 automatic.

It should not matter which way the plug was on the switch (oh I'm sure there's some technical guy out there who has a algorythim or whatever for the proper placement and trajectory of it on the unit). What matters is that is was plugged on at all. All that switch does is make contact when the gas pedal is engaged to send a connection to the other switch on the back left side of the tranny for kickdown.

I couldn't get mine to work and so I took it off and took it apart (not really made to be done that way). No contact inside and dried old grease. Sprayed a little contact cleaner got it back together and the tranny and my flapper both work fine.

That switch is located in the gas pedal arm up under the dash, and is used for the 400.

If you have a 350 then you have linkage at the carb for ajdustment.
