Default Horn Problem

I have been working on the horn on a 79. I replaced the horn contact
the horn works fine until I replace the center cap. Then the horn will not stop blowing. any ideas.

Did you put all the shims back in and put them "under" the new horn contact?

That horn contact just provides a ground to make the horn blow.So if its good until the button goes in the button must be grounding or when it goes in it spreads the contact so it touches ground.Look real close to see where its making contact.Look around the edge of the contact and see if it is closer on one side to the shims than the other. When you put the button in the contact spreads a little bit.

To keep enough clearance so the button can be pushed down without hitting the telescopic lock ring.(if you have a T&T column)

You need the shims to create enough space between the horn contact ***'y and the ground. If it blows when you put the cap on, you don't have enough space and it's touching the ground ring.
