Default 78 Seat Hardware

The bumpers on both the bottom and seat back were bent. I purchased the new bumper kit and a frame repair plate. I realize I will need to remove the seat cover to install the repair plate but am wondering if the repair plate needs to welded to the old frame or is there a way to bolt to the existing frame.

I went throught the exact same thing with my 78 a few weeks ago.
All I did was bolt the repairplate the frame then those threaded adjustment stops luckily went right in the plate and right into the seat bottom. No probs whatsoever. I took my seats out and straingtened the seat frame, little welding "here and there", sand blasted the surface rust then painted with Tremclad flat black rust paint. Good (better?) than new.

Thanks, did you replace the foam when you had the seats out?

yep...sure did....and I'm glad. Old ones had rolled up towels to create the side support.

DEYS.
